What is PPC and why is Google and FB PPC so important?

Happy Friday! :)

Today’s topic we will briefly discuss the two PPC advertising giants, Google and Facebook. PPC or Pay Per Click is a method of advertising by buying each click that the advertisement generates. Using this method, you are able to advertise according to your budget. However, this does not mean your advertisement is working. Clicks do not equal conversion.

We will start by differentiating the two into lead generation and demand harvesting. Google being a search engine, is categorized as a demand harvesting advertisement strategy. By listing ads on the first search, you will gather people who are already interested and are typically further down the sales funnel compared to Facebook advertising. With Facebook, it is considered as lead generation because the strategy is to generate new interest and brand new clients from the ads.

Google PPC

Learning about google PPC is by far the most important skill for any business no matter the budget. Google allows specific keyword targeting and area targeting to narrow down the traffic for maximum conversion. The click ads work off of a bidding strategy. The bids determine how your ads are going to be shown from the top of the search. The highest bid wins the top position. This is not as simple as listing your highest bid however, algorithms and functions can be used to adjust bids to beat your competition, bids can be customized for the time of day, location, and device as well. Using our algorithm to bid for maximum conversion, we ensure our customer’s budget is used as its maximum efficiency. One unique feature to pay attention to for google ads is that by adding more details to your google ads and building out different sections of the ad, you are also increasing the real estate of the ad. Meaning the amount of space the ad takes up on the search also increases. Allowing searchers to pay more attention.

Facebook PPC

When it comes to Facebook ppc, great interest driving copywriting is required. This copy writing method should entice the reader with a hook to go learn more about the deal. Facebook ads can target audiences down to their search and typical behavioral patterns. FB ads also allow retargeting of the audience that has visited your ad at least once. In my experience, the riches are always in the follow-up. The drawback is that the budget for Facebook ads may require much more to gain conversions. This being because Facebook users are not actively looking to make a purchase, therefore if they were to click on the link, the lead is still cold compared to the interest driven google ads.

This is just my one two take of the giants in the industry for those who have no prior knowledge of the difference. There are great classes you can take online on
udemy for these two advertising methods. Isaac’s class covers google ads in great detail including the algorithms. I highly recommend it, it is also very affordable.
